Maribeth Wetzel is a trial attorney devoted to defending individuals accused of serious crimes throughout Tampa Bay and across Florida.

Background & Experience

Beth has built a strong background in criminal trial practice and has focused her career on defense work. She has extensive experience in misdemeanor, felony, juvenile, state, and federal criminal cases.

After majoring in Criminal Justice at Michigan State University, Beth attended law school at the University of Toledo. She later moved to the Tampa Bay area and began her legal career as a public defender in Pinellas County, representing people who could not afford a lawyer.

As a public defender, Beth gained significant trial experience in misdemeanor, felony, and juvenile courtrooms. She later practiced complex civil litigation at a defense firm in Tampa before returning to her true passion: criminal defense.

Criminal Defense Approach

Beth focuses her practice on serious and complex criminal offenses, with an emphasis on trial work. She is known for preparing thoroughly, advocating strongly, and helping clients understand their options throughout the legal process.

She also has experience with departure hearings and cases involving clients who have been diagnosed with both mental health and substance abuse issues.

Admissions & Community Involvement

Beth is admitted to the Florida Bar and the U.S. Middle District of Florida.

She has served on the Board of Directors for Brookwood Florida, mentored children through Lawyers for Literacy, volunteered as a hearing officer for the Pinellas County Housing Authority, and served as an ex-officio member of the Florida Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors.
