Summer is an experienced criminal trial lawyer. She began her career as a criminal attorney in 2001 when she was a prosecutor for the State Attorney’s Office in Pinellas County, Florida. There, she prosecuted thousands of cases from the initial investigation with law enforcement through sentencing. As a prosecutor, Summer helped many people accused of crimes avoid criminal charges altogether by making sure law enforcement did not violate a person’s constitutional rights during, before, or after arrest.
Summer has spent the majority of her career defending individuals accused of crimes. In 2004, she resigned from her position as Assistant State Attorney to devote her time to her true passion of helping others. As a criminal defense attorney, Summer has represented clients who have been accused of a range of crimes from writing worthless checks, driving under the influence, theft, and indecent exposure to drug trafficking, embezzlement, lewd and lascivious molestation, and attempted murder. Regardless of the accusation or charge, she is dedicated to defending the rights of her clients.
Summer’s invaluable experience as a prosecutor, combined with her extensive experience as a defense lawyer, equals a winning combination for her clients.
Born in St. Petersburg, Summer’s ties to the community are strong. She is on the Board of Directors of Brookwood Florida, a therapeutic group home for adolescent girls and she and her husband are a “big couple” through Big Brothers Big Sisters. Additionally, she is a past president of the Pinellas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
